FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q: Is registration available on the day of the race?
A: No. Registration is only available via our online registration site.
 
Q: Can my child participate?
A: No. As of 2013, ALL participants must be 21 or older to compete in the event.
 
Q: If I am registered, can I push a stroller/walk my dog along the route?
A: No. Strollers, baby joggers and/or other wheeled equipment are not permitted for use by participants. No dogs are allowed on either course route.
 
Q: Is there a pace requirement for either race route?
A: Not exactly. There is no official pace minimum on either of our routes. However, the 1/2 Barrel Route will be open and manned by volunteers for 3 hours (meaning a pace average of approx. a 14-minute mile is anticipated from all participants). The 1/6 Barrel Route will be open and manned by volunteers for 1 hour (meaning a pace average of approximately a 14-minute mile is anticipated from all participants). New for 2016: Due to traffic control issues on our 1/6 Barrel Route, the "walking" category of this race has been eliminated.
 
Q: Are runners allowed to wear iPods (or other audio devices) while running?
A: Yes. However, while iPods and other MP3 players are allowed, participants do so at their own risk. Both courses are planned along OPEN ROADS. Use of personal audio devices by participants is not recommended.
 
Q: If I sign up but cannot participate, can I get a refund?
A: No. Registration fees are non-refundable, for any reason. However, person-to-person transfers may be made (via our online registration website) until October 19 at 10 am. After that point, no person-to-person transfers will be allowed.
 
Q: Once registration is full, can I be added to a waiting list in case of cancellations?
A: No. As there are no refunds, we do not track cancellations. There is no waiting list.
 
Q: If I am registered for the 1/2 Barrel Route but am injured (or not feeling up to the distance for whatever reason), may I participate in the shorter, 1/6 Barrel Route?
A: Yes. However, there will be no refund of the difference in registration fees. Transfers from the 1/2 Barrel Route to the 1/6 Barrel Route can be made (via our online registration website) until October 19 at 10 am. After that time, distance drops are the only allowed change and can be made on race day. Registered participants wishing to drop their distance will need to check-in for the half and ask officials to make the change for them manually.
 
Q: Can I defer or transfer my slot to next year's race?
A: No. Registration fees are only good for the year in which they are purchased.
 
Q: If I cannot make it to the race, can my (husband/sister/friend/co-worker/etc.) run in my place?
A: No. Person-to-person transfers can only be made online (via our registration website) until October 19 at 10 am. After that point, no person-to-person transfers are allowed. Participants will be required to show a valid driver's license or other photo I.D. at check-in.
 
Q: Can my friend or spouse pick up my packet on my behalf?
A: No. All participants are required to check themselves in on race day and provide volunteers with a valid driver's license or other photo I.D. to pick up their packet. A copy of the online registration confirmation is no longer acceptable to check-in.
 
Q: If I cannot make it to the race, can I still pick up my t-shirt?
A: No. T-shirts of those that do not check-in on race day will be mailed to the address given at registration.
 
Q: Can I change my t-shirt size the day of the race?
A: No. T-shirts are ordered based upon participants' selections at registration. Shirt sizes may only be changed (via our online registration website) until October 19 at 10 am
