Registration is closed as we have once again met the pre-established maximums for our 1/6 Barrel (4.37 miles) and 1/2 Barrel races (13.1 miles) during the Tyranena Beer Run.
While we are so excited that this event has become so
popular, we cannot just decide to re-open registration for
all of those that
missed the cut-off... it's simply not that easy! We have received HUNDREDS of
requests from people asking to be the "exception" to our maximum capacities. I
wish we could accommodate everyone but we are quite limited by parking, time to
prepare and space (among other things).
As a potential participant, while you may not "want" a t-shirt, drink
tickets or a meal and would be willing to sacrifice those amenities to just be
able to race, that is not something we (as the
organizers) are offering. Our event is a package deal. It's
an experience and a celebration; it's about
camaraderie and enjoying all that we have worked very hard to orchestrate...
it's about having a great time and raising money for some great causes. If
you are simply looking to run and not join in these festivities, perhaps this
isn't the type of event that you would thoroughly enjoy after all.
I do realize that the technical date of the price
increase was not until October 21 and Active.com indicated that our final
registration would be open until October 30, however,
those dates are only ever the case UNTIL the event's
capacity is met. Regardless of whether you were aware of this max or not,
our event has ALWAYS had a maximum capacity.
We have been updating people through emails to past participants, our Facebook
page, Twitter and email newsletter for weeks about how quickly the event was
filling again this year... I'm sorry if you were not able to register in time
for whatever the reason.
Also, we are not allowing ANYONE without a timing chip
or bib number to be in the race chute or to utilize our pre-arranged rest areas.
For the sake of all those that are paying to participate, PLEASE, if you were
unable to register, do not be a "run pirate". You may not think you are causing
any issues in being present on the routes, but bodies are still bodies... If we
had enough room to accommodate you, we would have allowed you to sign up and
collected your registration fees. So please spread the word... discourage others
from being pirates too.
Please understand that we do not place limits on our events to be "mean" or
difficult... or because we do not want to have a larger donation for our chosen
charities... We do so to ensure that everyone who actually pays to participate
is accommodated to the fullest. The enjoyment, safety and well-being of our
guests and customers is our foremost concern.
Finally, please remember, the success of this race determines our donations to
the charities it benefits and, possibly, its continuation in the future...
please, don't be selfish and potentially ruin what success we have been able to
accomplish in the past! The charities depend on our contributions!
Thank you,
